A short note about how to connect a deal with a person and an organization in Pipedrive using Zapier and Integromat.


When creating a Deal in Pipedrive many of us struggle with linking the deal with Person and Organization. It is one of the most common questions in Pipedrive's Community too. In this article, I will explain how to link a deal with a person and an organization when sending new leads from forms to CRM using Zapier or Integromat/Make.

Why should you link a deal with the person and organization objects in Pipedrive?

Creating deals in Pipedrive using an automation tool like Zapier or Integromat/Make is a multi-step process and not very well-known. As a result, many Pipedrive users struggle with linking deals with a person and an organization and end up with deals that do not have a person and an organization record linked to them.

How to link a deal with person and organization objects in Pipedrive?

The simple thing to know when creating deals in Pipedrive using automation tools like Zapier or Integromat/Make is that you need to create the associated person and the organization before creating the deal. This needs to be done as part of the same workflow, else you will have to add Search steps in Zapier.

In the following example of a simple Zapier workflow to create a deal in Pipedrive, I am creating the Person record first.

Once the person is created, I use the Person ID from the previous step in the Deal creation step.

You can follow the same steps to link the organization with the person first, and then link the organization and the person with the deal.

The workflow is similar when you use a tool like Integromat/Make or n8n.
